I want this now! It’s the answer to all my shoulder pain problems from lugging around my old (but wonderful) MacBook from 5 years ago that weighs 5+ lbs all over the city. I love my iPad, but typing on a flat screen is just not the same as typing on a regular keyboard.

Tonight I made my first sabzi-polo ba mahi shabe eid dinner (new years even dish) AND my first Haft-Seen! It’s missing a couple elements, but it’s still festive!! :) Eid Mobarak everyone!! Happy Persian New Years at 1:11am New York time!!

So last Tuesday night was Charharshanbe Soori, the eve of the last Wednesday of the year. Since I usually don’t have the opportunity to celebrate this living in the city (and somehow always forget about the celebration I hear exists on the Lower East Side), I decided to take things into my own hands this year! Since we can’t make fires like they would in Iran or in a backyard living in an apartment in the city, my sister had an awesome idea to light candles and jump over those. So…TA DA!! :)

Given the events of the last few weeks, I simply can’t stop dreaming about Miriam. Not a night has gone by where she hasn’t been in my dream in some form or another. Ironic that Adrienne posted these photos today because in my dream last night, the gang was hanging out and suddenly Mir showed up too. We all understood that she was there in a different form than the rest of us, but her smile, spirit and excitement (as embodied by the photos above) made it as though nothing had changed at all. Our group of friends from high school had all gotten together to hang out, and Mir - being an essential part of that group - came to join as well. As simple and as sweet as that. Miss you Mir.

Amazing advancements in AAC devices for disabled populations, especially those with spinal cord injuries. Not clear yet how affective/useful it will be for the average patient, but it’s definitely an interesting concept.

Grocery shopping here is quite the challenge. Everything is written in Swedish. Everything. Knowing I couldn’t last on Pringles and falafel for 5 weeks, I asked our Swedish professor to show us around the grocery store. So after this extremely helpful tour, I decided to shop so I could dine the Swedish way…Swedish smoked salmon and Swedish cheese. I thought I did such a great job, but the next day at the cheese shop the girl behind the counter cringed when I described how I mixed the cheese & lox together…apparently cheese and jam is the way to go, NOT cheese and fish. Oops.
